WATCH: Mason Parris Wrestles Mark Consuelos On 'LIVE with Kelly And Mark'
NCAA champion and Michigan Wrestling legend Mason Parris appeared on 'LIVE with Kelly And Mark' and wrestled co-host Mark Consuelos before Final X.
Michigan Wrestling legend and 2023 NCAA champion Mason Parris scored a pinfall Thursday morning on national television.
Parris, who faces Olympic champion Gable Steveson at Final X 2023 presented by Tezos on Saturday, appeared on the "LIVE with Kelly And Mark" morning program on June 8, 2023 and took on co-host Mark Consuelos as Kelly Ripa watched.
Parris, 23, broke through in March for his first NCAA title, after finishing as the runner-up in 2021 and fifth in 2022.
The four-time All-American defeated Penn State’s Greg Kerkvliet to secure the win, becoming the first heavyweight champion at Michigan since 1986. The win for Parris capped a 33-0 final season.
He finished high school with a 206-1 record, including going 152-0 across his last three seasons. He became the first Michigan Wolverine to selected as the Hodge Trophy winner this spring.
Against Consuelos, Parris made easy work.

Mason Parris vs. Gable Steveson
Steveson returned to wrestling at the U.S. Open and won the 125kg division to set up the match with Parris. The two have wrestled before.
Steveson won NCAA titles for Minnesota in 2021 and 2022, and a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics (even though it was in 2021). Winning a World title later this year grants him access.
Only 12 wrestlers have won an NCAA title, World title, and Olympic title during their careers. It’s the triple crown of our sport — a rare feat that requires gold medal success at the three most prestigious wrestling championships in the world.

How Wrestlers Qualify For Final X Wrestling 2023
A wrestler can qualify for Final X in one of three ways.
First, all 2022 senior world medalists automatically qualified for Final X. There were seven wrestlers in men’s freestyle, six in women’s freestyle and zero in Greco-Roman who met this criterion.
Next, all champions from the 2023 US Open (held April 26-30) automatically qualified for Final X.
Finally, for the weights that didn’t have a returning world medalist, the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament (May 20-21) champion will earn a spot in Final X.
