109: Samantha Miller (Mount Olive) vs Ivy Threatful (Simon Fraser)

Miller was a three-time All-American at Presbyterian before transferring to Mount Olive in the off-season. She tried her hand at 101 to start the season before bumping up to 109. Her fall in the regional finals shows sheโ€™s capable of success at her new weight. The Trojan star has a tough first-round test against Simon Fraserโ€™s Ivy Threatful.

109: Jaslynn Gallegos (North Central) vs Consuelo Garcia (McKendree)

Gallegos is competing this season at 109 pounds after winning the 116-pound title last year. Garcia was a late addition to the line-up and only has one loss on the season. North Central and McKendree are in the team race, so every win is important.

116: Julia Vidallon (McKendree) vs Emily Klein (East Stroudsburg)

Vidallon won a WCWC title for Life University in 2020, while Klein was a sixth-place finisher at the 2023 National Collegiate Womenโ€™s Wrestling Championships.

130: Emily Frost (Iowa) vs Sara Sterner (North Central)

This is the biggest match of the opening round since Iowa and North Central are expected to be in a tight team race. North Central has two wrestlers at this weight and Iowa only has one, so this could be a big opportunity for both teams to score and possibly prevent points.

130: Salome Walker (North Central) vs Lily Sherer (Lock Haven)

Two returning All-Americans go head-to-head in the opening round. Both finished eighth at the national championships last year at different weights.

170: Jade Herzer (Wisconsin-Stevens Point) vs Love Daley (Sacred Heart)

Herzer is a returning 2022 All-American at 155, while Daley has had an impressive freshman campaign. Both are capable of reaching the podium in 2024.
