Ring, Ring. Knock, Knock.

July 1st was the first official date that college recruiters could contact recruits.

Who was knocking on doors?

We know for sure Cavalier Coach Steve Garland came a callin’ from the University of Virginia.

On Sunday he landed one of the most coveted prospects in the country in landing New Jersey State Champ, TJ Miller.

Wrestling for Camden Catholic, Miller placed 3-1-3 in his high school state championship career. In his three years of high school, he has posted a 119-6 record.

We had the opportunity to get TJ’s decisions in his own words.

WS: Why did you choose Virginia?

TJ: It is a great Academic school and a very good wrestling program

WS: What other schools were you considering?

TJ: Rutgers and Penn

WS: What weight do you see yourself wrestling in college?

TJ: Probably 141 but I will go 41 or 49 wherever the coaching staff feels is best.

WS: What is your relationship like with the coaches and wrestlers at Virginia?

TJ: I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff, Coach Garland is a high intensity coach and I will also get to go live with a national champ in Coach Leen. To be honest I have not met too many of the wrestlers yet, but I know some of them and they have the same goals on and off the mat that I do.

WS: What might you major in?

TJ: Hopefully Business, UVA has one of the top business schools in the country

WS: What are your college goals?

TJ: To become a National Champ and multiple time All American.

WS: Anything else you'd like to say?

TJ: No. I’m just happy to be a Cavalier.

-Congratulations to The Miller Family and the Camden Catholic and Virginia Cavalier Wrestling communities.
