Ironman Highlighted by Historic Team Race
Needless to say, the Walsh Ironman is the toughest in-season tournament in high school wrestling. Approximately 80 nationally ranked wrestlers highlight the field, and an astounding 7 of the top 10 teams in the country will be in attendance (including, and amidst months of drama, late arrival and nationally ranked #1: Blair Academy).
The tournament team champion cements itself as the #1 high school wrestling program in the country; in a handful of weight classes, the individual champion will place himself atop Flowrestling's national rankings. To recap, the biggest rankings fallout comes on Dec. 15th -the day after Walsh Ironman is over, the day Willie Saylor turns off his cell phone, goes into a bubble and gets drunk on Walsh Ironman videos and tournament brackets.
