VAC Holiday Duals Day 1 Recap

Earlier this morning, 48 all-star laden teams from across the country began their quest for the 2015 VAC Holiday Duals National Title. The first of two rounds began today as teams competed in the Pool Play brackets. Each team wrestled three times and depending upon their finish in these Pools they will then be placed in their respective Championship Round brackets.
The defending National Champions, NJ Scorpions Gold team, wasted no time as they pitched three straight shutouts as they defeated Oklahoma Thunder 75-0, Texas School of Wrestling 70-0 and NCWAY National Team 88-0. The Scorpions finished in 1st in Pool 1 as Oklahoma Thunder was second, Texas was third and NCWAY was 4th.
In Pool 2, Ohio White took home the top spot as they defeated Central Region Elite 90-0, Terps MS Express 41-18, and Michigan Select Red 77-9. Terps Express took home second as they defeated third place Michigan Select Red 83-3.
Team Mile High put on a strong performance in Pool 3 as they defeated RVA Select 84-3 and the Terps MS National team 63-7. They clinched the top spot in the bracket with their win over MF1.
In Pool 4 it was another familiar face as Team PA Gold dominated the competition on their way to the top spot. They defeated silver medalist The Crew 61-9, bronze medalist Terps Warhawks 55-12, and 4th place finisher Bitetto Trained 79-3.
The Legends of Gold team from South Dakota took home the top spot in Pool 5 with their victories over Apex Wrestling 31-20, Terps Titans 44-19, and Team Tennessee 64-24. Apex Wrestling won the silver, while Terps Titans took home third and Team Tennesse 4th.
The boys from out West will continue on for a VAC Holiday Dual Championship as Team California took home the top spot in Pool 6. The defeated the Hammerheads 87-0, Ohio Grey 53-7, and Team Utah 59-7. Team Ohio Grey won second place with their 44-24 victory over third place finisher Team Utah.
Minions Black from Georgia kept their hopes of a VAC title alive as they walked away with the top spot in Pool 7. The Minions were impressive as they defeated Team Palmetto 58-16, Team PA Blue 54-6, and Michigan Select 48-27. Team PA Blue held onto the silver while Michigan Select will fall to the bronze bracket and Team Palmetto to the Copper bracket.
Illinois Orange will continue their quest for a VAC National Dual Championship as they will compete in the Gold Championship Bracket tomorrow. They defeated Team Oklahoma Outlaws 41-14, Terps Contender Elite 63-6, and the VA Bandits 70-3 to win Pool 8. The Outlaws took home the silver with their 58-13 victory over Terps Contender Elite.
Team PA Silver won Pool 9 by posting a perfect 3-0 record. They defeated Team Inferno 85-0, Team Texas Dynamite Black 44-24 and Terps MS Xtreme 73-0. Texas Dynamite held onto the silver as they defeated Terps MS Xtreme 58-18.
Taking home the top spot in Pool 10 was Iowa Black who defeated the Scorpions Black team in thrilling fashion 34-33. The Scorpions Black team took home the silver spot while Minions Green edged out VAWA Gold for the bronze placement.
Team Ohio Scarlet took home top honors in Pool 11 as they defeated Team Nauman 58-9, Wisconsin Frog Team 69-3, and Team California Gold 50-9. California Gold captured the second place spot with their 58-7 victory over Wisconsin Frog.
New Jersey added another team to the Gold Championship round as Buxton School of Wrestling took home the top spot in Pool 12. Buxton Wrestling defeated Team PA White 58-10, Texas Dynamite Red 81-0 and Florida Team Greco 42-16. The Florida Team Greco team will compete in the Silver bracket while Team PA White will go to the Bronze bracket and Texas Dynamite Red to the Copper bracket.
With the teams now dwindled down into their respective championship brackets, here is a look at how each bracket looks:
