John Degl founded the Iowa Style wrestling club with the hopes of making it one of premiere clubs in the country, and he has done just that. 

As a competitor, Degl was a New York high state champion before taking his talents to Iowa City and wrestling for the Hawkeyes. While wrestling for Iowa Degl was a national qualifier, 2x Midlands placer, and part of 4 National Championship teams. 

When Degl first started Iowa Style they were practicing in a 900 square foot barn, and now they wrestle in 20,000 square foot facility with a 6,000 foot wrestling room. 
The club has also had alumni do some incredible things. NCAA finalist Brian Realbuto, All-American Steven Rodrigues, and All-American Kevin Jack all hail from Iowa Style. 

"I wrestled for Dan Gable.  His passion for what wrestling can do for a young man's life is what makes me work so hard.  I love making a place like our club, open to help kids all year round,” Degl said. 

Degl has been bringing a group of wrestlers to FloNationals since 2010, and this year will be bringing around 30 wrestlers. 

"I was looking to get guys a true National Championship feel, similar to the college level, to prep them for NCAA's.  We wanted a tournament where all ages divisions were represented in a bracket. FloNationals provided what I was looking for.  Flo has been the leader in wrestling appeal for years and I loved the organization and new any event they started would be top notch.  I've never looked back,” Degl continued.
