No. 9 Anthony Falbo Verbals To Purdue
Anthony Falbo has verbally committed to wrestle for the Purdue University Boilermakers and head coach Tony Ersland.
Purdue picked up its third top-100 commitment Thursday, as Anthony Falbo tweeted out his verbal pledge to wrestle for the Boilermakers.
Falbo is a senior at Newtown High School in Connecticut who has won his weight class at NHSCAs in each of the past two years. He was a sophomore champion in 2015 at 160 pounds and at 170 pounds this spring. In addition to his NHSCA titles, Falbo was a cadet freestyle All-American last year in Fargo and a junior freestyle AA a few months ago.
Anthony Falbo with an overtime takedown against JT Brown to win at Journeymen:
He is currently ranked ninth in the country at 182 pounds and is No. 59 on the senior big board. Falbo is the only athlete from Connecticut on the class of 2017 big board.
Purdue coach Tony Ersland has also received verbal commitments from Parker Filius and Max Lyon. Filius and Falbo both wrestled at the Journeymen Fall Classic earlier this month. Ersland's 2016 recruiting class was deemed to be the sixth best of last year by our own Willie Saylor after reeling in four big board studs.
Excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Purdue University. #big10 @nhsathletics @PurdueWrestling pic.twitter.com/kfC5cvj3Es
