Jesse Thielke made his long awaited return to the mat on Wednesday at the Dave Schultz, but it did not go as planned. The 2016 Olympian faltered in the quarterfinals, and then was pinned in his second consolation mach.

He had been dealing with a labrum injury and has moved is no longer a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center, but it is unclear what caused Thielke's struggles in the morning session. The 24-year-old was an outspoken proponent of the new Greco rules removing forced par terre, but it did not make a difference against Mostafa Mohamed of Egypt and Mike Fuenffinger of the Army WCAP.

An interesting note, Mohamed and Fuenffinger are wrestled for third place against each other. Below are Thielke's two losses.
