Jakobsen Or Weiler? Lehigh's Question At 197
Jakobsen Or Weiler? Lehigh's Question At 197
Lehigh's questions at 197lb are proof Penn State isn't the only team searching for answers at the weight class as conference tournaments approach.
Rightfully so, #1 Penn State’s 197-pound questions have been one of the major headlines of the season.
However, the Nittany Lions aren’t the only team in search of answers at that weight as conference tournaments approach. Lehigh has both Jake Jakobsen and Chris Weiler at the weight, and they have both have had pretty similar seasons.
The two met at the Edinboro Open and Jakobsen was the winner by 6-4 decision. But despite the head-to-head, each guy has manned the spot for the Mountain Hawks at different times during the year. Most recently, Weiler wrestled up against Arizona State and collected a dominant first-period 15-0 technical fall over Cade Belshay.

While Weiler has an 11-5 record, Jakobsen sits at 10-8 as the Mountain Hawks host Oklahoma this Friday and Pitt on Sunday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to close out their dual meet season.
Now, why is this important? Here’s why.
Lehigh has a chance to stop the EIWA Tournament Championship factory that is the Cornell Big Red since 2007. But it’s going to come down to bonus points, and having the right guy in that spot could be huge for the Mountain Hawks.
Cornell defeated Lehigh in their dual this year, but both teams were missing some key guys. The Mountain Hawks were without both Scott Parker (133) and Ryan Preisch (184) and new addition Fredy Stroker didn’t wrestle as well. Jakobsen also got the nod that day.
This weekend is Lehigh's final tune-up, so expect this spot to be solidified soon.
