2018 UWW Junior World Team Trials: An Overview

This weekend in Rochester, Minnesota, 10 young men's freestyler's will earn the right to represent America at the Junior world championships. Starting on Friday, May 18th, and culminating with the finals on Saturday, May 19th, the UWW Junior world team trials will be used to determine who gets to go to Trnava, Slovakia this September.

If you've never watched the Junior WTT, or have been hibernating since folkstyle season ended, here is a helpful overview to read up on before this weekend starts. The UWW Junior age group is for 18-20 year olds, or those born between 1998 and 2000.

A few notes before we start. First, the 10 U.S. Open champs have to make weight on both days, even though they don't have to wrestle until the best-of-three finals on Saturday night. Second, it is very likely that Daton Fix requests a wrestle-off for the 57kg spot, which he earned by being a returning world champ AND placing in the top three of the Open for seniors.
