Another set of Team USA title chasers has been assembled after our Senior Greco world team let it fly at the Greco World Team Trials last week in Tulsa, OK, to punch their tickets to Budapest, Hungary.
Going into this year’s trials we have a few things that we were keeping our eye on and they delivered. With the ink from the results now dry, we take a look at the biggest moments from the Greco WTT finals.
Coon over Robby in 2
Robby Smith has been the man at 130kg for the last five years and Adam Coon changed all that as he took him out in two straight matches.

Bey’s revenge
Last year, Mason Manville defeat Kamal Bey to make the Senior world team. Bey went on to win the spot on the Junior Greco world team and win a world title. This year, Bey got his revenge as he came back from being down 3-0 to defeat Manville and win the spot at 77kg.

Thielke takes out Mango
At the U.S. Open, Ryan Mango wasted no time at all against Jesse Thielke in the semifinals. But the tables turned at the trials where Thielke won two straight matches over Mango to claim the spot.

Hazewinkel = Fine Wine Status
Like a few of his world team teammates, Hazewinkel reversed the outcome of his U.S. Open bout to win the spot. The 35-year-old was victorious in two straight matches with his most dominant performance coming in a match two shutout over Max Nowry.

Chael Sonnen was right about Jon Jay
He dropped match one, but that just made him come back even stronger in the next one to force a full three-match series. Perkins dominated the first match with a tech in 1:26, and that would be the last time his hand was raised that day.
