Will Jordan Burroughs & Ben Askren Wrestle At Beat The Streets NYC?
Recently, both Jordan Burroughs and Ben Askren made social media posts about a potential match between them at Beat the Streets NYC.
Jordan Burroughs and Ben Askren are both Hodge Trophy winners and Olympians. Askren moved on from wrestling after failing to medal at 74kg at the 2008 Summer Games. Burroughs won gold at the 2012 Games, and in fact, has made every USA World or Olympic team at 74kg from 2011 to 2018.
Askren has two Hodge Trophies, Burroughs has one. Both Askren and Burroughs won NCAA titles while going undefeated in their last two years of college eligibility.
But the two legends have never wrestled each other. At least not yet.
Today, Burroughs tweeted a poll, asking if he and Askren should wrestle at Beat the Streets.
Hey @Benaskren let’s see what the fans think. Should Ben and I wrestle at this year’s Beat The Streets dual?

The correct answer is "yes," by the way. If you voted no, then what are you even doing on this website?
And not only did Askren retweet Burroughs' poll, but he also crafted his own tweet on the subject, complete with a nifty graphic of the two competitors.

Beat the Streets would be the perfect venue for these two stars, as it annually seeks to elevate wrestling to the highest stage possible, as last year's Beat the Streets NYC demonstrated when it hosted the first supermatch between Frank Chamizo and Jordan Burroughs.
Burroughs is arguably the most well-known and accomplished wrestlers of his generation. Fresh off his victorious UFC debut, Ben Askren is likely at the peak of his global popularity.
Talents like Askren leaving the sport of wrestling to pursue careers in mixed martial arts have created so many what-ifs. And while wrestling fans will never be able to know how Askren would've have done on the freestyle scene had he stuck around for another Olympic cycle, watching Askren and Burroughs in 2019 would be an incredible consolation prize.
