#6 Mick Burnett Makes His College Decision

Mick Burnett, ranked 6th nationwide at 132-pounds, made his college decision via social media. The Ohio state champ and Fargo Junior Freestyle runnerup will attend Pitt following Burnett's senior season at Elyria High School.

Burnett decided on the ACC school about 150 miles east of his hometown after a very impressive run in the 132-pound freestyle division in Fargo. There, Burnett bested seventh-ranked Cael Happel and #57 on the 2019 Big Board Mosha Schwartz, before falling to Dominick Serrano in the finals. Burnett jumped up four spots in the national rankings thanks to that performance.

As a 141-pound prospect, Burnett will add depth to Pittsburgh's lower weights. The Panthers are expected to start two redshirt freshmen at 141 and 149 next season in Cole Matthews and Luke Kemerer respectively, but rising senior Taleb Rahmani's departure from 157 should help create some space for everyone to bump up in a year's time.

How everything shakes out remains to be seen, of course, but Keith Gavin landed a very promising talent, and we're sure he was happy to lock up a rising senior on the cusp of the official contact date for rising juniors
