Conel 'Good To Go' For Penn State
Kyle Conel has been cleared to compete for Penn State next season.
According to a spokesperson for Penn State Wrestling, Kyle Conel is "good to go" this season for the Nittany Lions. As reported by the Centre Daily Times, Conel has been cleared to compete for Penn State by the NCAA.
Conel applied for and was granted a sixth year of eligibility after missing all but two matches last season due to injury. Before that, Conel placed third at the 2018 NCAAs for the Kent State Golden Flashes.
The Ohio native is expected to fill in for departing Hodge Trophy winner Bo Nickal at 197-pounds. That weight was one of several question marks for the Nittany Lions. Conel's presence on the team would suggest that incoming freshman Michael Beard will at least start the season on redshirt.
Penn State kicks off the season Sunday, November 10 with a home dual against Navy, followed by a trip to West Point for the Black Knight Invitational tournament the next Sunday.
