The Bo Nickal crossover has already begun, and he will soon have his first professional Brazilian jiu-jitsu superfight.

One of the greatest college wrestlers of all time is taking on the no-gi pound-for-pound king Gordon Ryan on December 7 at Third Coast Grappling 3. Ryan recently pulled off six submissions in eight bouts at ADCC, widely considered the most prestigious BJJ event for no-gi competitors.

It will be Bo's first action since winning a U23 world title at 92kg, which qualified him for the Olympic Team Trials in April. The Hodge Trophy winner will try to use the same wrestling skills that helped him win three NCAA titles to defeat Ryan.

Nickal is slowly beginning his transition into the world of mixed martial arts. We've known Bo has been interested in fighting for a while, and has recently signed with Jon Bones Jones agent, as well as partnering with American Top Team to open up an MMA gym in State College.

Gordon Ryan is the most well-known fighter in BJJ right now, having won three ADCC crowns and is the consensus P4P #1 in the world. Below is a compilation of all his opponents who tapped out at ADCC, the majority by rear naked choke.

Gordon Ryan vs The World

The rules for this event will be submission grappling with no guard pulls or leglocks. Gordon has arguably a better skillset at finishing opponents with upper body submissions these days though, despite his reputation as a leglocker. The ruleset will certainly help Nickal, who should be able to dominate the match on his feet, but the Penn State grad must be cautious of the RNC.

The two were previously seen interacting on Instagram during ADCC, with Ryan urging Nickal to try jiu-jitsu and come train with him in New York City at Renzo Gracie's gym, which is run by legendary BJJ coach John Danaher.

We've already seen some crossover between wrestling and jiu-jitsu, as Nick Rodriguez made the finals of ADCC at super heavyweight, then quickly turned around to face Pat Downey in a modified rules wrestling match at Who's #1.

For those unfamiliar with Gordon Ryan, be sure to watch our FloFilm on him and tune in on December 7 to watch one of the most fascinating crossover matches you'll ever see.
