Man, did it feel good to watch a senior-level wrestling tournament for a full day again. Day one of Senior Nationals has come to a close. It was all Greco-Roman weights and women’s freestyle lower weights today. You can see the results HERE and entire brackets inside FloArena.

With all the matches that went down inside the Xtream Arena, it was hard to narrow this list down to just six. However, if I have to pick seven, that deserve the time to go back and watch.
Fritz Schierl vs Ryan Whittle
29 points, 1 period. This one was wild.
Amy Fearnside vs Alyssa Lampe
Not only is Alyssa Lampe a 5X World Team member and 2X World medalist, she was up 10-0 when she pinned Amy Fearnside at 2019 Senior Nationals. That’s quite the turnaround for just less than a year.
Alex Thomsen vs Taylor LaMont
Alex Thomsen only trained Greco for about a week, but it didn’t matter. It looked like Thomsen was back in Fargo today. And how the heck did Thomsen hit that back arch literally from his back at 5:18?
Mosha Schwartz vs Randon Miranda
Well you watched one 60 kg quarterfinal, why not another? Another match with a current Div I wrestler upended a multiple-time age-level World Team member.
Xochitl Mota-Pettis vs Alli Ragan
The upset of the day. Mota-Pettis is Fargo champion, but nobody saw this coming. Also, Greco wrestled as well today and I think this was the headlock of the day.
Kendrick Sanders vs Patrick Smith
Like Mike Mal said on the mic, these two guys are both two of the toughest SOBs. To see anyone hit that slick of an arm throw and that tough of gut wrenches on a guy like Pat Smith is eye opening.
Lauren Louive vs Xochitl Mota-Pettis
Xochitl Mota-Pettis came to scrap today and made a statement, but in the end it was the same technique she used to defeat Ragan that Louive used to defeat her. When I said I thought Mota-Pettis might have hit the headlock of the day? I lied, I think Louive did.
