USA Piled Up Medals During Past Decade At Cadet World Championships
The USA Cadet World medal list in the past decade is loaded with household names.
Making a Cadet World team might not be a sure-fire ticket to future success, but those who turn their opportunity into a Cadet World medal often turn into big winners at the Division I level.
Half of this year’s NCAA D1 champions were Cadet World medalists. Spencer Lee, Aaron Brooks and Gable Steveson captured Cadet World golds, while David Carr and A.J. Ferrari brought home bronzes.
All together, the United States has won 34 men’s freestyle medals since wrestling’s international governing body reinstated the Cadet World Championships in 2011 after the tournament was shelved for 11 years.
USA Wrestling will determine its men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman Cadet World teams next weekend in Wisconsin Dells, while the women’s freestyle squad will be settled next month.
