197 Joe Franzese (Col) vs #16 Louie DePrez (Bing)
285: Daniel Conley (Col) vs #21 Joey Doyle (Bing)
Two healthy lineups should make for an exciting dual that you can watch with a subscription to ESPN Plus.
Columbia is a slight favorite on paper with the edge in most of the lower weights that could build them a large enough lead to withstand Binghamton's heavy hitters in their upperweights.
But they don't wrestle matches on paper, or on your computer screen (or iPhone screen, where most of you are probably reading this), so lets break things down.
125 could be bonus for Columbia, but Sobotker at 133 has homerun potential for Binghamton. The fourth-year collegian from Long Island has racked up 12 pins already. Rini is just as likely to win the match as he is to get pinned, but Sobotker's 13th fall would go a long way to increasing the Bearcat's win probability.
Kazimir is favored at 141, but Ryan Anderson has real upset potential. Anderson was a top recruit coming out of Bethlehem Catholic in eastern Pennsylvania but went the DIII route for his first two seasons, competing at Centenary University in New Jersey. Anderson is 8-5 on the season but has been picking up steam in 2022 with wins over Drew Munch of Lehigh and Sammy Hillegas of Virginia Tech.
Watch Anderson get a win over Munch:
149 leans slightly toward Binghamton, whereas 157 is a strong lean in favor of Columbia.
Columbia will be favored again at 165 with one another of their ranked wrestlers in Ogunsanya, however, Cassella is a very tough out and I would not expect bonus points from this bout.
Watch Ogunsanya defeat Brian Meyer of Lehigh:
Nick Fine is the nominal favorite over Jacob Nolan, however, both wrestlers defeated Lehigh's Jake Logan in the last month, who himself has defeated #10 Chris Foca this season. So this match is closer to a toss-up than anything else.
184 leans toward Columbia again, which means if Binghamton hasn't picked up one or two toss-ups or upset wins, they're going to need bonus from their big guns as 197 and 285.
At 197, the Bearcats have Lou DePrez, an All-American last season who sports an 87-18 career record in varsity competition. Joe Doyle does not quite have the lofty accolades as DePrez, but he's wrestled his way onto the heavyweight national rankings thanks to wins over North Dakota State's Brandon Metz and West Virginia's Michael Wolfgram.
If Binghamton's lighter weights can keep things within striking distance for their anchors, we could see a thrilling dual meet go down to the wire.
