Originally from Parma, Ohio, Tomasello wrestled for the Buckeyes for four years, never finishing lower than third at the NCAA Tournament. Tomasello won a national title for Ohio State in 2015 at 125-pounds.

The 2022 World Team Trials are set to go down in Coralville, Iowa May 21-22. This tournament will set the top two wrestlers at every weight who will wrestle-off for the world team spot in June at Final X. Seeds for the trials likely won't be released until a few days prior to the tournament, but because of its importance, we decided to predict what the top 7-8 seeds at each weight will look like. For a number of reasons, there has been a huge uptick in the past 10 years in the number of freshmen having success at the Division I level. From 2000-2009, there were four freshmen NCAA champions. From 2010-2019, there 13. That's over a 300% increase! We're now averaging more than one freshman champion per year.
