The Carlisle, Pennsylvania native was a four time state place winner and Pennsylvania state champion for Boiling Springs high school. When it came time for college, Myers decided to stay in state joining then head coach Tim Flynn and the Edinboro Fighting Scotts. At Edinboro, Myers was a two time EWL champion and two time NCAA qualifier. Myers left Edinboro with an overall record of 74-34 and was the 14th seed at the NCAA championships his sophomore year. Myers transferred to Virginia Tech following the departure of Edinboros coaching staff to West Virginia.
