Just two weekends of NCAA wrestling left, fellas. How many farms you got?
Conference odds are up on BetDSI (listed under 'Futures' tab), so it's time to lay a little cheddar down.
Not all weights for all conferences are posted, but there are interesting odds and some values for sure.
I'll list all the odds here and give you my top values. Keep in mind though that odds can/will change from what is written here based on how much they are played.
Big Ten 125
Sebastian Rivera (Northwestern) -160
Spencer Lee (Iowa) +110
The Field +2000
Willie's Top Play: I'm going with Spencer here. It's a two horse race. No one in the field can stop Spencer from getting to the finals. So I get Spencer at plus money to win one match? I'm in.
Big Ten 133
Stevan Micic (Michigan) -130
Nick Suriano (Rutgers) +120
Austin DeSanto (Iowa) +400
Roman Bravo-Young (Penn State) +750
The Field 2000
Summary: Micic is probably the safe play and -130 is pretty good value for a favorite. That said, he's going to hit a legit threat in RBY or Pletcher in the semi and then still have to beat the Suriano/DeSanto winner. If you're a bona fide Micic believer the price ain't bad. But I'm staying away from it.
Big Ten 141
Joey McKenna (Ohio State) -150
Nick Lee (Penn State) +115
Michael Carr (Illinois) + 300
The Field +1000
Summary: The odds came out before the preseeds. But the weight might be the most loaded in conference weight in the country. Carr has no cakewalk to the finals; he's looking at a Top 10 guy in quarters and semi's.
Big 12 141
Josh Alber (UNI) -125
Kaid Brock (OK State) +175
Ian Parker (Iowa State) +400
Matt Findlay (Utah Valley) +500
The Field +800
Summary: I like Alber and -125 doesn't scare me off of him in the least. But there's a lot of talent here. Alber will have a Top 12 guy in both semi's and finals. It's a fine play though.
Big Ten 149
Anthony Ashnault (Rutgers) -175
Micah Jordan (Ohio State) +130
Pat Lugo (Iowa) +400
The Field +1800
Willie's Top Play: Gimme Ashnault. -175 is a hefty price but Mick is a terrible matchup for Lugo and Ashnault is just too good top-and-bottom vs. Mick.
Big 12 149
Kaden Gfeller (OK State) -150
Max Thomsen (UNI) +110
Jarrett Degen (Iowa State) +300
The Field +1500
Summary: I don't like it. When G was 100% healthy his match with Thomsen went down to the wire. And I don't feel confident in taking anyone else.
Big Ten 165
Vincenzo Joseph (Penn State) -165
Alex Marinelli (Iowa) +120
Evan Wick (Wisconsin) +400
The Field +900
Summary: You know all the results. Marinelli beat Wick twice and it looks like he'll have to do it a third time to reach Cenzo in the finals. That is unless Massa or White, who Cenzo has had trouble with in the past, knocks him off. There's nothing I can tell you about this group that you don't already know. Go with your gut here.
ACC 184
Zack Zavatsky (Virginia Tech) -140
Nick Reenan (NC State) +110
Nino Bonnacorsi (Pitt) +375
The Field +600
Summary: What a great bracket. One of my favorite this weekend. Gun to my head, I pick ZZ Top. But hell if I know. Weird results for all this year, and is Reenan healthy yet?
EIWA 184
Ryan Preisch (Lehigh) +110
Louie DePrez (Binghamton) +125
Max Dean (Cornell) +150
The Field +1800
Summary: Mirror image of ACC 184. A lot of conflicting data.
Big 12 197
Willie Miklus (Iowa St.) -110
Preston Weigel (OK State) +110
Josh Hokit (Fresno St.) +400
The Field +1500
Willie's Top Play: Count me in as a believer in Hokit. I'm not 'calling it,' but I won't be surprised in the least if he busts up the Big 12 or NCAA brackets. That being said, Wiegel got the #1 seed, which means one tough one instead of two. I'll take him at + money.
