Earlier this morning, the Princeton Wrestling Twitter account posted a video teasing the return of three-time All-American Matthew Kolodzik to the lineup. Coach Joe Dubuque confirmed that Kolodzik will be starting at 149 for Princeton's dual this afternoon against Columbia.
Kolodzik has been in an Olympic redshirt this season, but he's suiting back up for the Tigers after an injury to Mike D'Angelo. Kolodzik wrestled unattached last week at the Edinboro Open and looked dominant.
The Princeton star finished fifth at last year's NCAA Championships and was a combined 5-0 last season against wrestlers currently ranked in the top five.
Not only does Kolodzik's return create intrigue in the 149 weight class, but it also makes major waves in the NCAA trophy race. Princeton is currently projected to score 38 points. Wisconsin, the current fourth-ranked team, is projected to score 57. If projections hold, an NCAA title from Kolodzik would give Princeton the edge for the fourth-place trophy.
Princeton's dual with Columbia begins this afternoon at 4 PM ET and can be seen on ESPNU.
