Some people find their dream college in high school. Some might find their dream school even earlier in life thanks to their family's connections to a particular university.

Despite New Jersey being one of the premier wrestling states in the country, you don’t tend to see the full representation of that talent at Fargo. Still, Team New Jersey is bringing a team with some experience to the FargoDome, with eight All-Americans from last year returning in 2023. Look for some of these unranked guys and girls to be in the national rankings in a couple weeks.

It’s that time of year again. This weekend, Atlantic City plays host to the always incredible New Jersey State Wrestling Championships, where 14 young wrestlers will be crowned champions. This year’s tournament has the makings to be the most exciting in years and we have the FULL bracket breakdown here for you!

The Rider wrestling team is gearing up this week for its home opener Friday night against top-ranked Penn State. It’s the kind of Herculean challenge that Gary Taylor, the longtime leader of the Brocs, used to embrace.

Olympics wrestling stars, Kenny Monday and Nate Carr, had a legendary rivalry throughout the 70's and 80's. On November 22nd, their sons are set to continue that rivalry at the NWCA All-Star Classic.

New Jersey has long been known to produce some of the nation’s best wrestlers, but that hasn’t always resulted in the greatest Fargo finishes. But this is one of the more loaded squads that Jersey has sent in years. It’s a group that includes five state champions, two National Prep champs, and seven returning All-Americans, so make sure you’re on the lookout for some of that classic Jersey dirt out in Fargo this year.

The New Jersey state championships return to Atlantic City after a one-year hiatus and wrestling fans across the state are glad to be back.

Wrestlers are used to pushing the pace and pushing their limits. This sport is ultra relentless and that “go-go-go!” mentality is consistently and appropriately preached. But sometimes, in the midst of a long, grueling NCAA season, it doesn’t hurt to give your guys need is a few days to rest.

The holidays are behind us. The calendar has officially turned over from 2021 to 2022 and after a week of canceled Christmas and New Years’ plans, rescheduled Holiday tournaments, and what feels like a perpetual level of uncertainty nationwide, Big Ten action is set to kick off in just a few days which means there’s truly only one thing is for sure: the wrestling season is still in its early stages. And there’s a lot of heat coming.

New Jersey high school wrestling is loaded once again with top talent. The list of stars includes Cadet World silver medalist Jim Mullen, fellow Cadet World teamer P.J. Casale, Super 32 champ Anthony Knox and numerous other Division I-bound stars.

Rutgers opened the season Sunday with dominant dual wins against New Jersey City University, Cleveland State and Binghamton. Though it wasn't a perfect debut for the Scarlet Knights, who won 27 of their 30 individual bouts and scored bonus points in 18 of them, it gave Scott Goodale and company an opportunity to showcase a powerful and balanced lineup.

Max Lopez was a self-described couch potato who stood 5-foot-6 and weighed 283 pounds as a freshman at Sterling High School in New Jersey.

It was a weird season, sure. But it’s been a weird year. In the end, we made it to New Jersey state championship weekend.

It wasn’t too long ago that Super Regions was the most exciting night of the high school wrestling season. 

The New Jersey high school postseason will be here before we know it. It’s a dead sprint to the finish line and teams around the state have been getting busy making the most of what was an expectedly disappointing season. Still - as I’ve said before - it’s better than nothing. We still have Super Regions coming up on April 17th and 18th, with the state championships a week later on the 24th and 25th at Phillipsburg High School.
