Beat the Streets Wrestling Time Square 2016 Results
The historic lights of Times Square could have been fueled exclusively by the energy of Team USA on Thursday night.
Featuring Men’s and Women’s Freestyle, Greco, and Junior Freestyle, the Americans won seven of nine bouts against their counterparts from Korea, Canada, and Iran.
2012 Olympic Champion Hyeon Woo Kim got the World Team off to a good start when he beat 2x World Bronze Medalist Andy Bisek.
But then Team USA responded with five straight wins including Mitch McKee’s late match heroics and a bit of Mark Hall wizardry.
Zahid Valencia scored first and went to the break 1-1 with reigning Junior World Champion Mojtaba Goleij. But Goleij really applied pressure in the second period that seemed to wear Valencia down.
Up next was J’Den Cox, who put everyone on notice with a rather dominant performance over the #10-ranked wrestler in the world, Asian Champ Meisam Mostafajoukar.
The unparalleled Jordan Burroughs blitzed #12-Peyman Yarahmadi to cap off a successful night by USA.
