Iowa High School Wrestling Mini Boards
Class of 2023
The 2023 class is one of the most decorated groups the state has produced in recent years. It’s led by two of the nation’s top five prospects on the 2023 Big Board — #2 Ben Kueter and #5 Gabe Arnold, both of whom are currently ranked #1 nationally at their respective weight classes.
Kueter followed up a U20 World title last summer by completing an undefeated high school career. He pinned or teched everyone he faced this season en route to a 39-0 record.
Arnold turned in an incredible debut season in Iowa, going 41-0 at 182 and sweeping the drama-packed four-match season series against two-time state champ Tate Naaktgeboren.
Fargo champ Ryder Block, ranked 22nd on the 2023 Big Board, put the finishing touches on his 159-1 prep career by winning his third state title. He went 45-0 this season on his way to the Class 3A title at 138.
Naaktgeboren checks in at #4 here, #4 nationally at 182 and #33 on the Big Board.
Three-time state champ Kale Petersen rocketed up the national rankings after another strong showing at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas, where he reached the U20 finals.
McCrae Hagarty won state titles as a sophomore and junior and reached the Fargo podium in both styles in 2021. His pursuit of a third state championship ended with an injury default loss in the state semifinals.
C.J. Walrath went 113-0 in his final two seasons en route to a pair of Class 2A titles.
Gable Porter registered two pins and a pair of techs at the state tournament on his way to his third title in Class 1A.
McKinley Robbins and Nick Fox each reached the state finals four times and won a pair of titles.
